We started PhotoForum in 2019 with a single thread: "Show me your worst shot and what you learned from it." Within a week, 400 photographers had replied. Not with polished portfolios — with raw, honest failures and the lessons buried inside them. That thread is still running.

Today, PhotoForum hosts 12,000 active members across skill levels — from hobbyist landscape shooters hauling tripods up predawn trails, to freelance wedding photographers juggling three edits on a Sunday night, to retired photojournalists who still dream in 35mm and want somewhere to pass the craft forward.
What we've built together: 47,000 forum threads, monthly portfolio reviews with working pros, a mentorship ladder from complete beginner to paid assignment, and a gear library where members lend each other bodies and glass with nothing but a handshake agreement.

The next chapter: a grant fund for emerging photographers who can't afford a workshop, offline chapter meetups in twelve cities, and an open-source editing tool library built by members, for members. None of it happens without you keeping the lights on.
